Müdavim Okey
Okey 101 against talking regulars or your friends — offline too.
Green baize, an oak rack and three regulars who know you.
Maker's note
This is my first game with an online server. I wanted to play at the same table as my friends — and I wanted to prove the way to do that on one game first.
So the online half is not buried in the game; it is a separate layer underneath it: the table, the seats, the turn, a bot taking the chair when a connection drops, and finding your own hand again when you come back. Phones on the same Wi-Fi can play without reaching the server at all, with the table hosted on one of the phones.
Once the layer has proved itself, I plan to put the other games on it. So this is as much a trial run for the rest as it is a game of okey.
What it does
Four games at one table
101: open with 101 or five pairs, lay your melds down, add to everyone's. Partners 101: the player across is your partner, and when one of you finishes you both get out. Classic Okey: fourteen tiles, nothing laid down. Partners Okey: classic okey in teams.
With your friends
Open a table and send the code or the link; your friends sit down in one tap and regulars take the empty chairs. On the same Wi-Fi you do not even need the internet: the table is hosted on your phone and the others find it among the tables nearby. If your connection drops a regular plays for you, and when you return you carry on with your own hand.
Your table, your rules
Every coffee house plays 101 differently, so every rule is a switch: doubling openings, whether a tile taken from the left must be laid, doubling when you finish with the okey or from pairs, a penalty for discarding the okey, games from five to eleven hands.
The regulars
A cast of twenty-two faces, three of them at the table each game. They open, lay down and speak — and in your first hands the one on your left tells you the next step, once.
A table that helps
Group the tiles on the rack with a gap; a valid meld is underlined and shows its value. One Sort arranges by runs or by sets. The tile you drew is marked and the melds yours can join light up. At the end of a hand one card says who finished how and what everyone scored, with the reason.
Honest money
Free — every game, every rule, every opponent. Adverts only between hands, never during play, no banners, no rewarded video. No adverts at all at an online table. One purchase removes them and opens marble and porcelain tiles and more cloths. Nothing for sale changes a hand.
