Maker's note

The third one gave up the screen entirely. Someone cracking a safe finds the notches with their fingers, not their eyes, and a watch already has a vibration motor in it — so let the information arrive at the wrist instead of the display.

As you turn the bezel the ticks get closer together, reaching their fastest right on the notch, and go silent if you turn the wrong way. Once there was nothing left worth showing on the screen, blind mode stopped being an option and became the real game; the visual mode is training wheels.

A side effect of that is that the game can be played with your eyes shut, which means a blind player can play it too. Accessibility here is not a setting bolted on afterwards — it fell out of the mechanic.

The information is in the haptics

As you turn the bezel the ticks get faster the closer you are, reaching their quickest right on the notch. Turn the wrong way and they go silent. Stop inside the notch and the wheel seats itself.

False notches

Every safe you open reveals a deeper one. Further down, false notches appear: they tick, but they never seat, and falling for one makes noise. Enough noise sets off the alarm.

Blind mode is the real game

The screen goes fully dark and you crack the lock by sound and vibration alone. The visual mode is training wheels. Because it can be played with your eyes closed, it is also accessible to blind players.

Requirements

Requires a Wear OS watch with a rotating bezel or a rotating crown. The game is played entirely with that input and will not work on touch-only watches.
